On 11 September 2001, the most deadly foreign attack on American soil took place when two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the NYC’s World Trade Center, a third into the Pentagon, and a fourth crashed en route to another target.  Twenty-five years on, the 9/11 Memorial and charity 9/11 Day are trying to reach the 100 million Americans born since 2001, a third of the population, who have no lived memory of the tragedy.

On 9/11, the actions of 19 terrorists caused the deaths of 2,750 people in New York, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 in Pennsylvania. The victims came from more than 90 nations and ranged in age from two to 85. The perpetrators were all affiliated with Al-Qaeda, a militant Islamist group led by a Saudi, Osama Bin Laden. But the memorials try to focus on both the victims and their families as well as the many people, both professionals and volunteers, who helped in the aftermath.

This short video from the 9/11 Memorial features young relatives of 9/11 victims and responders, many of whom are themselves responders, to show the importance of transmitting the memory of the attacks.
